Hello all EARS members and friends.  Our next meeting will be on Tuesday, September 21st, 7 PM at the Talbot 911 Center in Easton.

Marty, W3YOZ had his annual “fowlfest” ham radio picnic on August 21st at his Pasture Creek site south of Annapolis and had a turnout of about 100 hams.  Members from our club who attended were W3PAW,  W3TMD, K3RUQ, K3KZ, W9GE, and K3CB.  The chicken and fellowship were great as usual.  Lee and Paul also had their wives join in.

Please mark on your calendar October 9th for the big Triathlon  in Cambridge.  Our club has committed to provide the communications from 7 am until midnight for the race.  We will receive a check for $1000.00 for our efforts.  Mike, N3OUE says it looks like we will need 15-20 people to pull this off.  This race will be exactly twice as long in time and distance as the ones we have done before, and will be a very serious race for those wanting to go to the Iron Man Triathlon in Hawaii. Please contact Mike, N3OUE on line at n3oue@fastol.com  or at home in the evening at

410 822 0856 to let him know if you can help us.  There will be a special meeting about 2 weeks before the race to plan everything and assign times and locations that we will need to operate.

Lee Stevens , KA3HYJ is now W3TMD  “Trappe MD”.  Lee has passed his General and is really enjoying working all over the world on HF.

Dan, KB3KXK has sold his home on the water west of Cambridge and bought a  home east of Cambridge near the Hyatt.  He is building a new woodworking shop and garage.

Tinsley, K3RUQ has his house up for sale and has started building his new home about a mile on the Talbot side of the Choptank River Bridge.

Bob, W9GE has taken on the task of representing the Widow’s Assistance Program in the Maryland and DC area and has already been to two deceased ham’s houses and picked up their electronic gear to sell for their wives.  Be sure and contact Bob and take a look at the equipment that he has for sale.

On 9-14-04 Brett, KB3HGP our Talbot County RACES Officer held the first RACES meeting of the fall.   We had a record 15 hams attend including 6 RACES members from last year and 4 hams from our last General class.  Brett gave a talk to bring the new hams up to speed on what RACES is all about.   He had us listen to the state wide net and we checked in as Talbot County during the class.  We had the photographer from the Star Democrat come and she says there will be a picture and article later this week.  Allan, N5LKJ is going to put our new RACES group picture on our EARS website for us.  Put on your calendar the second Tuesday of each month which will be our RACES meeting. The meeting will be at 7:15 PM at the Talbot 911 Center.  The next meeting will be on Tuesday, 10-12-04.

Bill, KB3HSJ has taken down a large 150’ self- supporting Rohn tower and in planning to install it at his house next spring. Listen for the BIG SIGNAL from Hurlock soon !
