EASTON AMATEUR RADIO SOCIETY, INC. AUGUST 2004 NEWSLETTER www.k3emd.com Hello all EARS members and friends. Our next meeting will be on Tuesday, August 17th, 7 PM at the Talbot 911 Center in Easton. Our main topic will be the Triathlon which will be held in Cambridge on Saturday, October 9th. Mike, N3OUE wants to be sure we can get about 15 people to commit to helping with the communications. This will be a full blown triathlon like the Iron Man in Hawaii and be twice as long in time and distance. It will be starting about 7 am on Saturday and running until midnight. Our club will receive a donation of $1000.00 for our help, which is great, but we need to be sure we can take on this responsibility.Brett, KB3HGP reports that the RACES training will begin on Tuesday, September 14th7:15 PM at the Talbot 911 Center. We would like to have the current RACES members attend this class as well as any new hams who would like to get started in helping with emergency communications. We will have our group picture taken for the Press, and for our EARS web site.Marty, W3YOZ would like to invite our club members and their wives to come to his “Fowlfest picnic” on August 21st. This is a great ham radio picnic, held at Marty’s Pasture Creek property south of Annapolis. It is a beautiful spot on the water with picnic tables and shade trees. For directions go to www.pvrc.org and click on the “July Newsletter”.K3RUQ will be leaving Easton about 11 am on 8-21-04 and anyone who wants to go with me or follow me over is welcome.
