AUGUST 2003 NEWSLETTER

Hello all EARS members. Our next meeting will be on Tuesday 8-19-03, 7 PM at the Talbot 911 Center.

I am sending the newsletter out a week early to pass on Marty’s (W3YOZ) invitation to his annual “Fowlfest” picnic. It will be this Saturday, 8-16-03 at noon. Marty has hosted the “Fowlfest” for many years at his Pasture Creek location, south of Annapolis. All EARS members and their wives are invited as well as the PVRC (Potomac Valley Radio Club). Marty has a beautiful property on the water with shade trees and picnic tables. He will provide and cook the chicken and if everyone could bring a side dish or dessert, it would be appreciated.

Some of us will be meeting at Denny’s in Easton to caravan to the picnic.
K3RUQ and W9GE and our wives will be leaving Denny’s at 11 AM on Saturday, and any members are welcome to follow us. If anyone would like to go on their own, here are the directions: Take RT 50 West over the Bay Bridge, take RT 2 South, then left on Central Ave. Go 2 stoplights and turn right on Muddy Creek Rd. Go about 6 miles and turn right on RT 256. Go left on Rogers Road. Go a short distance and take the first gravel road on your left. At the first house and the 1062 sign turn right and go straight to the river and the “Fowlfest”.

On 8-9-03 Stephanie Windsor, KB3HYX became the wife of David Hanna of Fredrick, MD. Congratulations, we wish you all the best!!

Be sure and take another look at our www.k3emd.com web site. Wayne, KB3GSU has just finished putting on several more pictures from Field Day.
Our web site is really looking good, and getting lots of pictures of club members and activities.

At our last EARS meeting we recapped our field day activities at Horn Point. John, K3OLE is going to see if we can use the wonderful facilities again for June next year. We also talked over having ham classes this fall which would be taught by our members. Of the members present, no one wanted to take the responsibility of heading up the classes. We had three volunteers to help with the classes, K3OLE, N3OUE and K3RUQ. So, we need someone to come forward and offer to run our fall classes, otherwise we won’t be able to hold these classes.

I hope to see a good turnout at Marty’s “Fowlfest” this Saturday and at our next EARS meeting on 8-19-03.
