Suicide Bridge Restaurant in Secretary, MD at 7 PM..
We have the sun porch reserved for us on the first floor.
Each
person can order off the menu and we will all get separate checks.
The last two years we have had a very good turnout at Suicide Bridge
and I hope this year we will also.
Don’t forget the RACES meeting this
Tuesday 12-14-04 at the Talbot
911 Center.
The RACES
meeting will begin at 7:15 PM, right after the weekly EARS net.
At this
meeting the new RACES members will have their pictures taken for the
photo ID badge and receive their membership papers.
During 2004 the EARS club has a lot
to be proud of. Here is a list of our accomplishments as a
club:
- Ham
radio classes for 14 people were taught by K3PKC, W9GE, K3OLE, and
K3RUQ. Exams were given by N3OUE which have resulted in many
new Eastern Shore hams.
- In
April we had our EARS hamfest led by Paul, W3PAW. We had 175
people attend, which is our largest hamfest to date.
- Our
club provided the communications for the June Eagleman Triathlon
headed by Mike, N3OUE. Almost half the club participated to
make this a success.
- In
June we had a wonderful Field Day at Horn Point and with 13
operators and 14 other hams from our club visiting and helping set
up. This was the first Field Day for many of our new members.
We had a total of 1567 QSO’s and beat all other Eastern Shore
radio clubs and came in very well nation wide in the 4 transmitter
class. Paul, W3PAW was the main organizer again this year.
- In
October our club provided the communications for the second
triathlon in Cambridge. This one went
from 7 AM in the morning until the last runner came in at 2 AM the
next morning! Mike, N3OUE was in charge and we had 19
club members participate to make this a success. Brett,
KB3HGP did a wonderful job as net control for the entire
triathlon.
- In
August, Marty W3SO invited all of us to his Pasture Creek QTH near
Annapolis for his annual “fowlfest” picnic.
- Our
treasury is at the highest level since the club has been in
existence at about $3700.00. This money has been raised by
our hamfests and triathlons. We have saved quite a bit of money
the last couple years by not having to pay a phone bill for the
auto patch and also by emailing the newsletter to save on postage.
