EASTON AMATEUR RADIO SOCIETY, INC EASTON AMATEUR RADIO SOCIETY, INC JULY 2005 NEWSLETTER Hello all EARS members. Our next meeting will be Tuesday, July 19th at 7 PM. It will be held at the Talbot 911 Center in Easton. The big news for this past month was our Field Day at Horn Point, Cambridge. John, K3OLE did a great job getting us permission to operate there again. We had two nice articles and pictures on the front page of the Daily Banner after Field Day. Owen, K3CB brought his big 20 KW generator and tower mount for the 6 and 2 meter beams which is right on the back of the trailer. Owen also donated the diesel fuel for the weekend of operation. The weather was warm, but we all made out fine. Bob, W9GE set up a delta loop right on the river’s edge for 40 meters, and did logging on his computer. We had a 40’ Rohn 25 tower with a tri band beam, and a 80 meter dipole. Lee, W3TMD did a first class job on buying the groceries, and doing all the cooking for us all. In attendance for Field Day were: W3BFC, W3YRS, K3KBK, KB3KXK, W9GE, N5LKJ, KB3HGP, K3OLE, W3JAL, N3NVW, K3RUQ, W3TMD, WB3LFH, W3PAW, KB3HTE, N3EZY, KB3MEJ and K3CB. That is 18 people, I hope I have not forgotten anyone ! We didn’t make as many qso’s as last year, but I don’t think we were in the mood to break any records. Everyone just had a nice time being together and enjoyed sitting by the Choptank River and eating those wonderful big hamburgers with juicy tomato slices. At our meeting we will be voting on a new prospective member, Dan, KB3MEJ who is from St Michaels. We will also be talking over some by laws changes that will make the club easier to run. Hope to see you at the meeting, Tinsley K3RUQ EARS Secretary |
