Hello all EARS members. Our next meeting will be on May 16, 2006 at 7 PM at the Talbot 911 Center in Easton.

At this meeting we will have the election of officers. The following persons have been nominated for the 2006-2007 period:

Owen, K3CB for President
Dan, KB3MEA for Vice President
Bill, K2WC for Secretary
John, K3OLE for Treasurer
Gene, K3SVA for Trustee

We hope to have a good turn out for our elections.

At the meeting we will also be voting on the fixed expenditures the club will have for the 2006-2007 period.

The big topic for discussion will be Field Day at Horn Point. Field Day will be on Friday, June 23, 2006 for possible set up, and operating on Saturday the 24, and Sunday the 25. We have a great location at Horn Point in Cambridge, and we will need to get an idea of who will be able to participate and help.

This will be my last newsletter as EARS Secretary. I have been Secretary for the last 5 years. We will be electing a new President, Vice President and Secretary. As I look back over the club's activities these past 5 years, we should be very proud of all the accomplishments we have made as a club.

Five years ago we only had a couple hundred dollars in the treasury. Today we have over $4000.00. Five or six years ago we had only 2 or 3 members attending the meetings, and we even talked seriously about disbanding the club because of lack of interest... Today we have 39 members, and usually have at least 15 members present at our monthly meetings, and as many as 20-25 willing to help at club events. We now have a first class web site, k3emd.com .We have a 2 meter repeater with a new location, new repeater, new antenna up 250' and new 7/8" hardline. We have had many successful triathlons where our club has provided the communications and we have had been able to build up our treasury with the donations we have received from the triathlon committee.

Our club has put on several novice and general ham radio classes, and from these classes we have added to our club membership with some very good new members. Over the last 5 years we have had many interesting guest speakers at our club meetings that I think everyone has enjoyed.

I feel that the outgoing board of directors has given an excellent foundation for the new board to work from, and we look forward to the continued success of our club under their leadership.

Dates to put on your calendar:

May 27, 2006 Sussex Tech Georgetown DE Hamfest
June 11, 2006 Triathlon Dorchester Co.
June 23, 24, 25 Field Day Horn Point
