APRIL 2006 NEWSLETTER

Hello all EARS members. Our next meeting will be on April 18, 2006 at the Talbot 911 Center in Easton at 7 PM.

During the April meeting, nominations for officers will be taken. For several years now we have had the same slate of officers for our club, and we need several new people to step up and volunteer for the offices of President, VP, Secretary, Treasurer and Trustee for the election year 2006-2007. The EARS Club has come a long way in the past several years with good club attendance and officers who have worked hard to make things happen, and we would like to see this continue under new leadership.

The third Saturday of the month has been designated by Ray, W3BFC to be our "Bagel Breakfast". This month we had 10 club members, which was a record attendance. Present were W3BFC, W9GE, W3TMD, K3RUQ, K3OLE, N3OUE, K3CB, K9MBQ, W3YRS, and N3OUE.

There has been a lot of antenna work going on in Talbot County this past month, the most I can ever recall.

W9GE has gotten one of his three towers rotating with 2 phased yagis and a 40 meter beam on top of the tower, as well as a new beam on one of his other towers. K3CB now has his VHF tower finished, and has his HF tower all ready to go, with rotators and winches working on both. K3RUQ has gotten his SteppIR 40- 6 meter beam and new Prosistel rotor up and working. Dan, KB3KXK is getting ready to put up a Carolina Windom in the trees behind his house as soon as he can find the local tree climber to give him a hand.

Dan, KB3MEA has reported that no one has ever gotten the ham radio desk at the Red Cross.. This is a nice desk and they would like someone to take it out of their office. There is no charge for the desk.

The Sussex Tech Hamfest will be on May 27th, 2006 at Georgetown, DE.. As far as I know this will be the only hamfest on the Eastern Shore this year...

Please try to attend, as it will be a good one.

Hope to see everyone at the meeting on Tuesday,

Tinsley Meekins K3RUQ
